Dr. Stephan Blanford is a leader committed to social justice in education and social services. Dr. Blanford serves as the Executive Director of Children’s Alliance and leads a team of employees, volunteers, and more than 9,000 members across Washington state committed to improving outcomes for children and families. Before assuming that role, he was elected and served on the Seattle School Board in 2013. At the conclusion of his term, he received the “Leadership for Equity” award for his unapologetic advocacy for educational and racial justice.
Dr. Blanford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (Social Justice) from Antioch University Seattle, a Master in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the College of Education at the University of Washington. Although it seem like just a year ago, when he was searching for a good preschool for his only child, he is now the proud and bemused father of a college freshman.
