Sam McVeety is a Principal Engineer at Google’s South Lake Union office. He is the Area Tech Lead for Data Analytics on Google Cloud Platform, which aims to democratize the field of large-scale data processing. He also co-leads the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion steering committee for the larger Core Infrastructure product area and publishes Decompiling Oppression, a bi-weekly examination of liberation struggles through a Critical Race Theory lens.
Sam grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He enjoys rowing and cross-country skiing with his husband, Jordan. He has done volunteer work on a number of political campaigns, both national and local, and tries to continually ground his work in accountable relationships with community organizations. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Jurisprudence at UW Law, with a focus on the intersection of technology, social justice, and equity.
