SUMMARY:Storytelling for Change: A Creative Gathering for Climate Resilience
DESCRIPTION:As the days are beginning to grow longer\, we gather to share the stories that sustain us. Stories of Change: A Creative Gathering for Climate Resilience is a free community storytelling event exploring how we build resilience together\, in the face of climate change. \nJoin Basilica Bio and featured speaker Eileen Lambert\, a Latine climate storyteller and communications strategist\, for an evening of reflection\, creativity\, and connection. Through storytelling\, collaging\, and building a community chapbook\, we’ll explore what it means to live and care for one another in a changing world. \nInspired by Adrienne Maree Brown’s Emergent Strategy\, this event invites participants to imagine resilience not as endurance\, but as interdependence. Together\, we’ll share local stories of climate adaptation\, community care\, and creative resistance—and transform them into collective art that honors our shared future. \nTogether\, we are going to hear a talk about the power of storytelling in fostering and prefiguring climate resilience. Then\, we will all assemble a chapbook together! Each attendee will receive a copy of the community chapbook\, as well as some essential climate resilience resources! \nHere’s what the night will look like:\n🌾 A talk by Eileen Lambert on storytelling and climate resilience\n🌀 A participatory creative session\, where participants build a page-long story of climate resilience\n📖 An assembly session\, where everyone’s story will come together as a community chapbook!\n🌍 A reflection on how storytelling creates climate resilience \nWhen: January 24th\, 2026.\nWhere: Seattle Recreative Georgetown\nAccessibility: Light refreshments and snacks provided. The event space will be accessible and welcoming to all; please reach out with access needs. \nRSVP here: https://luma.com/3ascej8h

SUMMARY:Part 1: Follow the Money with SPEB\, SESEC\, and SKCDC
DESCRIPTION:This online training is an opportunity to truly understand how school districts are funded in Washington State—and why it matters for our kids. Facilitated by Mary Fertakis\, the training is offered in two parts. Part 1 January 27th at 5:30 to 7pm\, part 2 January 29th from 5:30 to 7pm. Both will be held via Zoom. \nIn the first session\, we’ll break down the school funding system so participants can gain a clear\, accessible understanding of how the model works and where decisions are made.
