DESCRIPTION:We’ll be reading Clyde W. Ford’s new book\, Of Blood And Sweat: Black Lives And The Making Of White Power And Wealth. His book provides a compelling look at the past and its broad implications for present-day calls for racial equity\, justice\, and the abolishment of systemic racism. \nThis group will meet online four times total\, February 23\, March 21\, April 18\, and May 2 from 12:00-1:00 PM. \n\nFebruary 23 Please read the Introduction and chapters 1 through 4\nMarch 21: Please read chapters 5 through 8\nApril 18: Please read chapters 9 though 12\nMay 2: Please read chapters 13 through 16 and the Afterword\n\nEveryone is welcome to join the book club regardless of whether they have been able to read the assigned content. \nAfter the book club\, we invite you to join our online event with author Clyde W. DESCRIPTION:Is your little one interested in being part of Look\, Listen + Learn? Sign up for auditions!\nAuditions will be held Saturday\, May 6th\, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at John Stanford Center in SODO. Each audition is roughly 15 minutes long. \nConsistent with our mission\, LL+L TV seeks to include diverse children and families in our productions. \nChildren must be 6-9 years old to audition. No prior acting experience is required. \nPreference will be given to Black\, Indigenous\, and other children of color. The criteria we use to identify children to feature on our show include: \n\nDevelopmentally appropriate social-emotional skills and behaviors\nAbility to focus attention for a short period of time\nWillingness to interact and positively respond to questions or instruction\nBasic English-language speaking skills\nSome familiarity with Look\, Listen and Learn\n\nSign-up here.  \nAuditions are limited and will be filled on a first-come\, first-serve basis. We’ll also hear a keynote from Microsoft’s Amy Liu\, sharing her insights on the future of sustainable urban development. The Spring Spotlight Celebration is hosted at the Daybreak Star Cultural Center in Discovery Park\, Seattle. \n			\n						RSVP Here\n					 \nKeynote Speaker\n																										 \nAmy Liu is Director of Human Services and Affordable Housing Initiative in Washington State at Microsoft. In that role\, she helps lead Microsoft’s Affordable Housing initiative and also oversees philanthropic grants in Washington State. Amy’s career has spanned many industries and types of organizations\, including the public\, private and non-profit sectors. Amy is a recovering attorney with a wide range of work experiences\, including working in an urban school district\, the mortgage finance industry\, law firms\, a Presidential campaign\, and a statewide education advocacy organization. She is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan with both her undergraduate and law degrees.
