She is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan with both her undergraduate and law degrees. DESCRIPTION:Please join SVP Seattle and our newest grantee\, STEM Paths Innovation Network (SPIN)\, for a lunchtime networking event supporting young entrepreneurs of color. \nThe Young Entrepreneur Project (YEP) supports young entrepreneurs to plant\, grow\, invest\, and receive the fruits of their business ventures. YEP supports students of color to manifest STEM businesses by learning skills and doing hands-on training. YEP students are prepared not only with the entrepreneurial and STEM skills to succeed\, but also with tools to overcome the social emotional challenges of becoming young\, successful entrepreneurs. In its inaugural year at Cleveland High School\, the program currently has 16 students registered with a weekly 80% attendance rate during the weekly workshops. \nAfter working on their business ideas since the fall\, the YEP students are excited to pitch them to you! \n\nWhen: April 26th\, 2023\, 12:15-1:30 p.m.\n\nWhere: 5511 15th Ave S\, Seattle\, WA 98108\, Cleveland High School\, Seattle\, WA\n\nWhat: Networking event where students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with up to three professionals and pitch their business ideas and logos. DESCRIPTION:Join SVP Partner and Board member Alexa Carver and Dila Perera\, Executive Director of Open Arms Perinatal Services\, to explore non-profit boards and governance.  \n																										 \nAlexa Carver currently operates an independent consulting firm\, Inspire Impact Consulting\, where she works with a wide variety of nonprofits and schools. For the past 15 years\, she has focused her work with boards and leadership teams on strategic thinking\, board development\, and equity in governance to inspire maximum mission impact for the organizations she works with. \n																										 \nDila Perera\, MPH\, MSW has worked in public health and advocacy locally and internationally\, including time spent as a doula for Open Arms. She earned both a Master of Public Health  in Maternal Child Health and Global Health as well as a Master of Social Work at the University of Washington. Dila became Executive Director of Open Arms in 2015 and is proud to lead Washington’s first and leading community-based nonprofit organization providing perinatal services. \nABOUT OUR NON-PROFIT LEARNING SERIESThis fall\, we are deep-diving into how non-profits are changing to center the voices of our Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color communities. The three-part series will each feature an hour-long presentation and conversation for Partners and community to learn together. DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to announce the date of our Fall Partner Meeting on  November 29. This is our first in-person meeting in nearly two years\, and we have a lot to talk about—including new programs\, new grantees\, and lots of new opportunities for you to get involved. \nHosted at the space of our new grantee\, CHOOSE 180. we will have tasty local food and a variety of drink options. Together we will celebrate\, preview the year ahead at SVP Seattle\, and explore how we can further our learning journey. \nSVP Seattle’s community has grown so much over these last few years\, with many new Grantees and Partners joining. We cannot wait to finally come together as a community outside of a Zoom square\, and we hope to see you there \nSVP is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our community. We ask that each attendee be prepared to show proof of COVID vaccination and take a rapid antigen test the day of the event. Masking is optional and rapid tests will be available at the event for those who have not had an opportunity to test. Please stay home if you test positive or if you have COVID or flu symptoms. We thank you for your investment in the health and safety of our community.
