SUMMARY:Powering Nonprofits: Is AI the Answer?
DESCRIPTION:Join SVP Seattle and SV2 for a virtual conversation exploring the opportunities\, tensions\, and ethical questions surrounding AI in the nonprofit sector.  \nAs AI has grown more and more prevalent in our daily lives\, nonprofits are being urged to develop AI fluency to increase impact and organizational efficiency. But is the adoption of AI really the answer to the nonprofit sector’s challenges? Is it possible to adopt the technology and remain true to an organization’s mission and values? We’ll explore the role boards and donors play in AI adoption as well as what nonprofit staff\, at every level\, should be thinking about before they jump in. \nDate & Time: Thursday\, June 4 | 12:00 PM\nLocation: Zoom\, Virtual\nFree Event\, Registration Required \nRegister Now: https://tinyurl.com/h3ndaacb  \nWe’ll be joined by Terrell Engmann\, Co-Founder of Basilica Bio\, and James Hove\, Washington Director at Climate Solutions. \nTerrell’s work sits at the intersection of public health\, community health\, and scientific research. A recent Molecular Biology graduate from the University of Washington\, he completed the Bonderman Fellowship\, traveling across eight countries to explore health equity and biological interventions through visits to hospitals\, labs\, and reproductive health facilities. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences and is focused on dismantling practices that drive disparities in health outcomes. His work centers community health\, environmental justice\, and educational outreach\, with a commitment to leveraging science for more equitable outcomes. \nJames leads efforts to advance bold\, equitable climate progress across Washington state at Climate Solutions. He brings more than a decade of policy experience spanning local\, state\, and federal government\, including work at the White House and U.S. Department of Transportation\, where he helped launch major initiatives to decarbonize industry and scale clean transportation solutions. Known for his collaborative\, solutions-oriented approach\, he focuses on how policy can be both bold and inclusive—especially in moments of rapid change. \nTogether\, they will share perspectives on how AI is being used today\, what it means for mission-driven organizations\, and the questions leaders should be asking as adoption accelerates.
